Thought of publishing my poem, which got me into first position in the writing challenge that was held in the year 2021, by The Unheard Stories Writing Community

An October Morning

Summer is gone

Fall is here.

Awakened by Nature's spell ,

The leafy cacophony in the gloomy woods;

This beautiful blue-skied October morning,

I witnessed a brilliant serenity....

The welcoming of cold winters,

Oh! How Nature in itself is a magnificent bliss;

I sit taciturn...

The calming onset of seasons,

The fallen leaves making the trees almost bare and decayed

Yet the trees stand tall and give warmth of life in this leafy bedlam.

Nature calls upon us ;

Let bygones be bygones

Let us shed all anxieties and fears,

Let us enjoy the journey of life.

As Nature has always been a giver,

Nature has always been a giver.

Betwixt the daily musings and work,

The sweet chirping of birds adjoining the autumnal lull;

I thereby capture the momentary pulchritude.

Witnessing the far away landscapes,

This solitude let's me introspect....

The changing leaves signifying humane moods;

Moods of laughter, joy and sorrow,

All revived with Nature

As Nature has always been a giver,

Nature has always been a giver.

Sense of Belongingness

Sense of Belongingness within ourselves is quite natural in this elixir of life; as we tend to cling on to our chosen one's. That ray of hope drives us to move ahead in life. The very fact that we all are ultimately 'self 'as we come alone and depart alone makes us harder to think as we are living in this temporal illusory world that projects our very situational phases . It's like a humane maze...Interdependence within dependence . Paradoxically speaking, we tend to be independent whereas in actuality we can never be fully independent in this world as God's creation was humans ,not robots. We have to cling on . We have to belong to someone in order to be independent. In this somewhat daily chaotic course of events of our life we are somehow dependent on others for some or the other reason. We 'belonged' in the past, we 'belong' in the present and will leave a trace of 'belongingness' in the future. However, it's true that our ...

Nostalgia

I miss you every single day I miss you every single moment Without you my life's incomplete. The breaking dawn welcomes a new day Sunshine in the morning gives an eternal bliss. The cold breeze, the sweet chirping of birds somehow pleases my inner soul. Far away I see the clock tower, the old mystic abbeys It is reminiscent of my good old happy-go-lucky school days Today after twenty long years, I pass through the streets of Little Valley High School, I still hear the alarm bell, The hymns, chants, incantation and prayers in Church hall; The cacophony of the students makes me feel nostalgic... I am amazed to see the adjacent alley which was once ours' hidden secret rendezvous Memory never fades never transforms It remains afresh and new in our mind's gallery. Arunita Lahiry

Is Lady Macbeth the fourth witch?

The witches have a supernatural effect on us, "giving the impression of mighty and inscrutable forces behind human life." - Harold Goddard. One of Shakespeare's most controversial, diabolical, influential, ambitiously manipulative and frightening female character, Lady Macbeth acts as a catalyst by giving birth to the “ murderer” Macbeth and by entirely breaking the stereotype of women being kind and softhearted. She serves as the main influence in Macbeth's life. He trusts her with everything he has. She is, after all, his "dearest partner of greatness." (I, v, 13) Macbeth was written at a time (1600s) when a large majority of people were interested in witchcraft. Hence,witchcraft play an essential role in the theme of the play.
